Spotify users love to listen to music and prefer Spotify over other streaming apps. They love to share their music with friends and they form relationships by discussing music tastes, however, they have to leave the app to share and talk about music through a third party.
What I Did
In this project, I focused on refining the chatroom experience by addressing key user feedback. I introduced features to easily add friends, customize groups, and share music instantly, creating a more connected and engaging space for listeners. By streamlining the layout, reducing icon sizes, and prioritizing accessibility, I ensured a seamless and inclusive experience for all users. My goal was to create a chatroom where listeners could effortlessly connect, share, and interact without leaving the app.
Pain Points
Users shared that repeatedly resending links to start listening sessions felt cumbersome, disrupting the flow of their experience. Additionally, they found it inconvenient to leave the app to chat about what they were listening to, creating a disconnect between the music and the conversation.
First Iteration
These pain points revealed the need for a more cohesive and integrated in-app experience that keeps users engaged in both listening and interaction.
Accessibility Considerations
In designing the chatroom, accessibility was a key priority. I focused on enhancing color contrast to make text and visuals clearer for users with visual impairments or color blindness. This thoughtful approach ensures that every listener can engage fully and comfortably.
Refining
Based on listener feedback, I refined the chatroom based on feedback, adding features to easily add friends, customize groups, and share music instantly. With a streamlined layout and reduced icon sizes, the design offers a seamless experience similar to more familiar chatroom settings.
